No news is good news

The last few days have been relatively uneventful. Jezebel took two days to recover from her trip to the vet hospital. That's not to say she was terribly stressed out when we brought her there on Tuesday--in fact she took the whole experience rather well. But we did definitely notice she was a lot sleepier on Wednesday and Thursday. She's still a sick kitty and she needs her convalescence time.

She's eating between 1/8 cup and 1/4 cup of dry kibble each day now. It's hard to get her to eat more than that. She's figured out the whole tube feeding routine. No kidding--she actually gets up on the couch and lies on her side when she's hungry now. This can't be good. Having a tube sticking out of her side doesn't seem to bother her in the least. The tube top, on the other hand, is driving her crazy. I wish I could communicate to her that the sooner she starts eating her full daily ration of kibble (3/4 cup), the sooner she can get the tube top off.

Speaking of kibble, I found another kind of Iams dry kibble (the lamb and rice formula) for Jezebel to try. It's got more calories per cup, so she won't have to eat as much. I mixed some of it in with her regular kibble this morning and she didn't seem to notice.

This weekend is Pride weekend, and we've got a full agenda, starting today with brunch at a friend's place, then a concert, then dancing. Michael and I have scheduled our day with frequent trips back home to check in on Jezebel and look after her. Last night we went out for a couple of hours to check out the festivities and catch a concert. I'm not crazy about leaving Jezebel by herself, but she seems to be doing fine. We're never gone more than a few hours at a time. I worry all the time about Jezebel getting her tube caught somewhere, but it's probably just me being paranoid. She hasn't got it caught anywhere yet, and she's about as active as she's going to get. Anyway, much as I enjoy spending time with the cats, it's nice to get some of my social life back.
